How much is the car rental deposit?

When renting a vehicle with Simba Car Hire, a deposit is required to ensure the safety and return of the vehicle. The deposit amount can vary based on several factors, and it's important to understand the process to avoid surprises.

Deposit Range

• Minimum Deposit: The deposit for hiring a vehicle with Simba Car Hire starts at $500.

• Maximum Deposit: Depending on factors such as the vehicle type, rental duration, and additional options, the deposit can go up to $2000.

Factors Influencing the Deposit

• Vehicle Type: Higher-value vehicles may require a larger deposit.

• Rental Duration: Longer rental periods may also affect the deposit amount.

• Additional Options: Any extra features or coverage you select can influence the deposit.

Deposit Confirmation

• Final Amount at Collection: The exact deposit required will be confirmed when you collect the vehicle.

Deposit Hold and Release

Refundable Security Deposit

• A security deposit of A$500.00 - A$2,000.00 will be held on your card at the time of pick-up and may be deducted.

• The deposit will be blocked on the customer’s credit card and released within 10 days after drop-off.

Security bond requirements:

• Standard Bond: A$500 for most bookings.
  

• Interstate Bookings: A minimum bond of A$750 applies. Customers traveling interstate or to Kangaroo Island are required to purchase our Premium Roadside Assistance.

• Local Residents (local first-time hirers): A bond of A$1,000 is required. A valid driver’s licence and a utility bill (no older than 3 months) showing the same address as the licence must be provided.

A local resident is defined as a hirer residing within 500 km of the branch location.

International Travelers: You must provide an international driver’s licence, passport, and proof of your residential or hotel address in Australia, along with your international residential address.

Payment Card Requirements

• A credit or debit card in the main driver’s name is required to leave the deposit.

• We accept International and Local Credit and Debit cards, However the international transaction fee is borne by the Hirer. Please consult with your Financial Institution.
